In the field of veterinary medicine, reproductive services include several areas: infertility, breeding, insemination, obstetrics, and delivery including cesarean sections.
The experienced doctors at Lee’s Veterinary Hospital can help animal breeders in the areas of fertility and insemination. We are able to test for infertility in males and females for breeding purposes. Our staff is also able to collect semen samples from males for the purposes of breeding. Artificial insemination includes surgical and vaginal insemination. Surgical insemination is done by the doctor using general anesthesia and placing the semen from the male directly into the uterus through an incision in the abdomen. A less invasive method is vaginal insemination which is the most common method used.
As your pet gets further along in her pregnancy, our doctors will be there to monitor her health and to ensure an easy delivery and quick recovery by mother and babies. We offer ultrasound services, blood work, and any medicine needed by the mother.
When it is time for your pet to deliver, we can help by providing delivery services, or advising you on how to safely monitor a delivery in your own home. Certain types of pets require cesarean sections for delivery, and that will be done within our clinic by a qualified physician and trained staff.
Once your pet or livestock have delivered, Lee’s Veterinary Hospital will follow her recovery and monitor the health of her litter through deworming and first shots. If you are interested in breeding your pet, or know that your pet is expecting, and you live in the vicinity of Cullman, Vinemont, Fairview, West Point, or Good Hope, Alabama, call our hospital to set up an appointment.
